About the Book:
After a series of misadventures including being accused of attempted murder in high school, Rayvin Woods, a photographer and natural witch, left her hometown of Talbot in Northeastern Ontario, hoping to start her life over and never return. Ten years later, circumstances force her back to face her past and her former crush Grant Michaels.

Malcolm de Sade, a cunning vampire, escapes from an underground prison looking for vengeance. His accidental release unleashes his hunger and ambition on a small, sleepy town. Rayvin’s power is all that stands between de Sade and his domination of Talbot, and beyond.

Grant Michaels, a police officer, thought Rayvin was a murderer. He will do whatever it takes to protect the community he loves from danger... but will he learn to trust his heart, and the word of a witch, before it's too late?

Rayvin didn't count on rekindling a lost love or battling a malevolent vampire and his coven for her life when she came home to Talbot. Facing the past can be a nightmare… It’s worse when a vampire is stalking you.

My Review:
3.5 of 5 Stars
It's been a while since I read a full length witchy novel, and I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. I found myself loving a lot about Rayvin's character(including the spelling of her name!) and Grant's pretty cool too, I must say. I liked the way the the book flowed for the most part, there were a few things where I had those "whoa" moments nearer to the end of the novel, but nothing that can't be overlooked.
My favorite thing about Wind and Shadow would have to be the fact that Rayvin's back story was really well developed, so much so that I felt that I knew her. So, my compliments to Tori L. Ridgewood for that! It's pretty rare nowadays that I can say that.
I think the added element of having two big supernatural characters, with the witches and vampires, made the story really interesting and gave it that extra wow factor that I don't feel would have been present had the big bad wolf been just another witch.
One thing I will say is that there is a lot of dark/spooky stuff in this, so keep that in mind. Not for young teens, at least in my personal opinion. But, older teens could handle and really love this book. It's unique, the voice is fresh, and it was well written. Not a book I'd add to the beach reads list I'm building, but one that would be good on one of those cold, curl up with a book evenings that some of us still have ahead of us in March or maybe for an April picnic. Either way, if your a fan of witchy goodness, with just the right amount of other added supernatural elements, Wind and Shadow is for you!
*Although I received this book for review from the publisher, this in no way affected my review or opinion*
