About Full Steam Ahead:
Seven days aboard a luxury cruise. The perfect getaway from it all.
At least, that’s what Georgia Cantwell was hoping for.
Georgia wishes she could run away from the nightmare that has consumed her life, but she can’t. With her inbox filling with menacing emails, all she can do is try to get through her sorority’s winter break cruise without anyone realizing how wrecked she is. So she really doesn’t need Jace McLaren seeing through her tacked-on smile when no one else seems to notice.
Growing up with a father in jail, Jace knows from experience that if you’re going through hell, there’s no way out but through. He has always steered away from girls like Georgia with her ice-queen attitude, but she’s in real trouble, and despite himself he pushes past her walls.
As much as Georgia tries to ignore it, Jace won’t let her pretend with him. But she can’t risk telling him the truth. Her past would ruin his trust, her family, her future—everything.
But out on the open ocean, there’s nowhere to hide. And when Georgia’s secrets come tumbling out, it might take more than Jace to save her.
My Review(4.5 of 5 Stars):
I really loved this book! Georgia Cantwell isn't really sure it's a good idea to go on this cruise with her sorority sisters and the group of fraternity brothers also from her college. After all, one of those frat brothers just dumped her a few weeks earlier after she revealed to him her big family secret. Oh, and that's after he dropped hints that he was going to propose... Ouch! She shows up anyways though, hoping her roomie for the week, Jace, won't notice the fact that she hardly eats a meal, that big family secret is eating her up and making it virtually impossible to keep anything down. Then again, Jace is just a big player only after his next conquest. Or is he?
This book was a quick read, and would be perfect for curling up in your favorite reading spot or even on a towel on the beach(or your own cruise!). Georgia is such a great character, and just like us all she's not perfect. She tries to hide from everyone else those parts of her that make her less than perfect(in her eyes), like the fact that her family is broke and the fact that she loves a good zombie book(me too!). I love seeing her progress throughout the story as Jace helps break down the walls that surround her. Oh, and then there is Jace himself. What can I say about Jace McLaren? He's misunderstood, that's for sure. But, Georgia just can't seem to associate the boy that everyone else sees with the one who understands her dreams to travel and her love of art. I was rooting for them almost from the start!
I recommend this book for fans of New Adult and Contemporary Romance in general. I believe Georgia and Jace really help each other become the people they're meant to be, all while giving us one heck of a great read along the way. Valerie Chase is certainly an author I'm adding to my watch list and I can't wait for book two!
