Broken Melody by Trudy Adams

My Rating: 4 of 5 Stars

About the Book:
Seventeen year-old Danae Blackburn has never known love. After being fostered out at two, the family that chose her gradually reduced her to brokenness and a life of fear. For a long time there is only one thing she can turn to - the piano, at which she is amazingly gifted.Torn between a dysfunctional past and a promising future, Danae struggles against everything that threatens her identity - the love of a friend, the challenge of a competition, the possibility of change. At first, the only thing that helps to weaken her defenses is the beauty in music ...
My Thoughts:
I was so excited when I received this book for review from Book Crash in exchange for my honest review, as it sounded like it was going to be a great book. I love books like these, you know the ones where the main characters work to overcome their difficult pasts and hopefully come out on top. They just speak to me and I always really connect with the characters when the books are well written, which luckily this one was.
I don't want to give much away about the plot, but it gives quite the chilling portrayal of a young woman in the grips of a not-so-nice(to say the least) foster family. Such a touching and beautiful story and one that will stay with you for the longest time, I read it in February(just now posting the review) and it's still fresh on my mind. This is no light read, it will challenge you in many ways, especially on your perception of the world around you. I highly recommend this book for those who love a good emotional read, one that has strongly written characters, and an inspiring message. I can think of very few people I wouldn't recommend it to.
*I received a copy of this book for Book Crash, but this in no way affected my review or opinion*
