About the Book:
In this New Adult debut by Robin York, a college student is attacked online and must restore her name—and stay clear of a guy who’s wrong for her, but feels so right.

When Caroline Piasecki’s ex-boyfriend posts their sex pictures on the Internet, it destroys her reputation as a nice college girl. Suddenly her once-promising future doesn’t look so bright. Caroline tries to make the pictures disappear, hoping time will bury her shame. Then a guy she barely knows rises to her defense and punches her ex to the ground.

West Leavitt is the last person Caroline needs in her life. Everyone knows he’s shady. Still, Caroline is drawn to his confidence and swagger—even after promising her dad she’ll keep her distance. On late, sleepless nights, Caroline starts wandering into the bakery where West works.

They hang out, they talk, they listen. Though Caroline and West tell each other they’re “just friends,” their feelings intensify until it becomes impossible to pretend. The more complicated her relationship with West gets, the harder Caroline has to struggle to discover what she wants for herself—and the easier it becomes to find the courage she needs to fight back against the people who would judge her.

When all seems lost, sometimes the only place to go is deeper.

My Review:
Before reading Deeper by Robin York, I had no idea how wide spread "revenge porn" is. You hear those horror stories all the time of those men(boys in my opinion, no man would do such a thing), who post there ex-girlfriends'/ex-wives'/ex-whatevers' intimate pictures on the internet for all to see with those nasty messages and crude innuendos, but you don't(or at least I didn't) realize how widespread this despicable, non-consensual pornography is. In Deeper, you get to see how a young college student's life is affected when her vengeful ex-boyfriend decides to put photos of her in very intimate positions all over the internet, along with her full name, where she's from, where she goes to school, and all kinds of other private information.

This sparks a goal to get all those pictures off the internet to keep her name clean so it doesn't ruin the chance of her eventually having the career she dreams of. Kind of hard, when they keep popping up everywhere. Along the way, the college student(Caroline) develops a close "non" friendship with the guy who lives in the dorm room across from hers, West Leavitt. West has his own set of problems and really shouldn't get involved with Caroline(or so he thinks), but he can't help feeling drawn to her, and can't help punching that low-life ex-boyfriend of Caroline's when he overhears him talking about her with his friends.
I really enjoyed the relationship between Caroline and West. The slow build really worked for me as it was so much more realistic than what we've come to expect in any sort of romance related novel, quite refreshing. Keep in mind though, if you do like a faster moving story as far as the relationship goes, that the story is so much more than the romance.

Being friends with West really helps Caroline discover that yes those pictures are out there, and sadly they might always be, but they don't define her. I especially enjoyed following along with her as she learns to not blame herself. She did nothing wrong, just like so many other women who've been in her exact position. Trusting someone you love is not a crime, but sadly the way Caroline was treated at times made it out to be that way. I think many would benefit from reading this book, I've come away with so much more knowledge than one would expect from a New Adult Contemporary Romance, because like I said, it's so much more. So, maybe next time you hear about someone getting personal photos(especially one of a sexual nature) leaked on the internet, think twice about judging them because it really can happen to anyone. Even you. Revenge porn needs to be stopped, and I thank Robin York for helping me understand that stuff like this does happen to everyday people. Maybe, just maybe, if enough people gain knowledge of this alarming epidemic of nonconsensual porn, change can happen.

To less serious matters, I really loved this book as whole and I cannot wait to read more about Caroline and West in the next book in the series. I had never read anything by Ruthie Knox(Robin's pen name for her contemporary romance), so I didn't know what to expect as far as her writing style and ability to make you experience the character's emotions. Well, I was in for another one of those emotional roller-coasters I love so much, the kind that keep you up all night until the last page. If you decide to grab a copy of Deeper, I'm almost positive you'll feel the same way. I'm honestly on pins and needles for how long I'll have to wait til Harder!
*I received this book for review via InkslingerPR/Netgalley/Random House Bantam as part of this blog tour. This, however, in no way affected my review.*
