About the Book:
Dot McKenzie is a lone wolf-shifter on the run, using everything available to her to stay one step ahead of her pursuers. When she is offered a chance for friendship and safety with the Fairwood pack, she accepts.
Gavin Fairwood, reluctant heir for Fairwood pack leadership, is content to let life happen while he waits. Old longings surface when he appoints himself as Dot’s protector and becomes more than a friend.
Dot goes into hiding again when her presence puts the pack and her new friends at risk. When old enemies threaten the destruction of the Fairwood pack, it will take the combined efforts of Dot and Gavin to save it. But can anything save their love and Dot’s life when she becomes a pawn in a pack leader’s deadly game?

Excerpt:
Dot guided her bike full speed over a series of speed bumps in the busy parking lot. She clung to the handlebars as she went airborne and landed with a heavy thud. The bike stayed upright and straight, but the man behind her wasn’t so lucky. In her rearview mirror she watched as he almost lost control. One for me, she grinned.
He didn’t let up. She would have been disappointed if he had given up so soon. What to do next? She didn’t want to draw too much attention to the two of them. She had a plan formulating for the finale and if the cops interfered it would put an end to all her fun.
A short set of stairs leading to the sidewalk along the road caught her eye. The heavy-duty springs Dmitri had fitted on her bike should be able to handle them. Without considering the consequences, she slowed, rose off the seat, bent her knees, and fought the bike to the bottom. The other rider stopped at the top, revved his motor, and drove off to find another way. Two.
She could duck and hide at this point, but now she wanted this over. For the first time in a long time, she had somewhere to be and hopefully, someone waiting for her. No, she couldn’t think about that now. She made her way to the edge of town, her senses constantly scanning for pursuit. It wasn’t long coming. Time to get serious.
She spotted a heavy stand of oak trees not far from town, but it stood too close to a small subdivision for her comfort. She needed to get farther away. She wanted no witnesses. If the size of the image in her mirror was a correct indication, her pursuer was about a half mile behind her. A bigger gap would give her more time to set her trap.
Another five miles on the smooth pavement and he remained the same distance away. She was starting to get tired of this. Time to end the game. A dirt road ahead that appeared to wind through farmland and into a forest held promise. Her smaller bike should handle the bumps and potholes better. Besides, he would be eating her dust. She grinned again. Three.
Past the tree line, she dropped the bike, killing the engine. There wasn’t time to do this gracefully. A flock of crows rose from the trees, protesting her appearance. In her tank bag, she found the nylon rope she remembered stashing there several months ago. Out of sight of the oncoming rider, she tied it tightly around the trunk of an old maple, then dashed to the other side of the road and loosely wrapped the rope once around the trunk of another tree. She wished she had time to cover the line with a scattering of leaves, but the other rider was too close. She hid in the brush that lined the road and waited, her breathing no louder than the barest ruffle of leaves.

    1. Thanks! It's not actually a review, it's a Spotlight because this book was just released this past week. I'll likely be reviewing it soon though. :)
