Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian

Burn for Burn (Burn for Burn, #1)Burn for Burn by Jenny Han
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY...
THEY GET EVEN.

Lillia has never had any problems dealing with boys who like her. Not until this summer, when one went too far. No way will she let the same thing happen to her little sister.

Kat is tired of the rumours, the insults, the cruel jokes. It all goes back to one person– her ex-best friend– and she's ready to make her pay.

Four years ago, Mary left Jar Island because of a boy. But she's not the same girl anymore. And she's ready to prove it to him.

Three very different girls who want the same thing: sweet, sweet revenge. And they won't stop until they each had a taste.

From two fabulous names in young adult literature comes a new series of books sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. One of those can't put down til the last page type books where I was literally up half the night reading.

First we have Lillia. Lillia hasn't lived here on Jar Island all her life, used to only live here three months out of the year. But, she convinced her parents to make the move so she could spend more time with her summer friends Kat and Rennie. Her life is going pretty good, that is until the night something absolutely terrible happens to her. Then, she finds out someone close to her is been meeting up with her little freshman sister. Well, that doesn't sit well with Lillia and she needs to get even.

Then we have Kat. She lost her mom a few years back and has since only had her dad and her brother Pat. She used to be best friends with Rennie, and then later on Lillia. But, right before freshman year Rennie decides to cut Kat lose. That's bad enough as it is, but then she spreads quite a few nasty rumors about Kat. It's senior year now, and Kat's just about tired of it. After all, she was best friends with Rennie for years and that gives her plenty of ammunition.

Then we have Mary. Sweet, shy little Mary. Mary lived on Jar Island up until part way through 7th grade. She had always attended the Montessori School on the mainland. In her 7th grade year a boy named Reeve(who also lived on Jar Island) got a scholarship to go there as well. Thus begins quite a bit of bullying for poor Mary, who loses all her friends. Except... Reeve sort of starts to become her friend, until he doesn't. The bullying gets even more unbearable and something terrible happened that caused Mary to have to move away. But, now she's back. Reeve ruined her life, now it's his turn. Mary may have just a little something extra on her side.

Fate brings these three girls together(or, back together in Lillia and Kat's case). So what's a girl to do when she's scorned? Well, get even of course!

From the beginning this book had me hooked. I loved the idea and I was already a fan of both the authors. I think my favorite part of the book was seeing how the friendships of the girls grew. It's kinda nice to read a book that didn't revolve around romance on occasion, you know? Only problem I had with this was that darn cliffhanger-type ending. Now I've got to wait to get my hands on a copy of "Fire with Fire" and it's going to absolutely drive me crazy! I definitely recommend y'all look into this book.
